Round 8 - Lonato Results

  • QUALIFYING - P6

  • HEAT 1 - P4

  • HEAT 2 - DNF

  • FINAL - P3

The final round of the 2023 Iame Series Italy was by far the most competitive race of the season.

Just by looking at the Qualifying times, we had the top 6 drivers within the same 0.196 sec!

I was a bit unlucky as i didnt have any slipstream on my Qualy fast lap and thefefore lined up on the Grid in 6th place.

Heat 1 was a damage limitation exercise for me, before the race i visualised finishing anywhere between 3rd and 4thas i knew that then I would have very good chances for Heat 2 and the Final. In the end I managed to bring the kart home on 4th place!

Heat 2 however proved to be a disaster. Starting from 4th i got hit on turn 1 in the back, and so had to abandon the race and preserve my tires for the final.

In the Final I decided to go for it and make some moves. Starting from 6th i managed to overtake 2 drivers on lap 2 and then followed closely the championship leader for all the race, keeping our gap to under 0,3 sec. I did have a think of trying an overtake a couple of times but given that I was in a podium finishing posistion I decided not to risk it.

I came home 3rd and got on the podium in the Final race of the season, which was something I really wanted and felt very very special.

All in all this has been a very succesful championship for me. It was the frist time i was racing on such a high level outside my home country and most of the tracks I was visitign for the first time so the learning curve was steep.

Ofcourse none of this success would have been possible without the support of my amazing Mechanic Federico Vecchio and my front running team ZANCHI Motorsport.

Federico and myself after achieving a podium finish and 3rd place in the Championship!

I am now looking forward to some rest and reflection as we enter the winter hybernation season!

Below are the Final Championship standings of the season.
